Hello again, Dimensionerds! I must apologize for being more than a bit AFK this week–my furniture finally showed up Monday (hooray for chairs!), so RL has intruded. I did decide to play a bit of hooky from unpacking today, as Part Two of the Nightmare Saga came out with the update.
As far as quest lines go, this one isn’t so bad. There were three chronicles that needed to be run–Greenscale, Hammerknell and RoS (all Intrepid)–and 10 stages of a NMR 1 to complete along with other quests, but overall, it was a pleasant day spent in the company of Mr. Orphiel Farwind. I don’t want to give away any spoilers…but this is a dimension NPC that’s sure to please.
Orphiel does not just stand in one spot, not at all. He’s very chatty, he turns this way and that, he will at times vanish into a portal ripped from the ether–and he likes to play pranks, such as that shown above. The pretty guy with the horns and hooves is yours truly, Orphiel transformed me while I had my back turned!
It was mentioned on the PTS forums that Orphiel was the means to get to Port Scion, but I haven’t noticed it yet. He does respond to emotes, however, so you can laugh, slap, dance and cheer for him–these will just make him talk more.
Orphiel Farwind is not bound in any way, I saw one on the Greybriar AH this evening, listed for a cool 5,000 plat. Whether it sells or not remains to be seen. Honestly, I think this is one of the few NPCs that would be worth it, but it’s even better getting him for free. I haven’t done the quest line on my warrior yet to know if any of it is different for Guardians, but from a Defiant perspective, it was a lot of fun, with the rewards being on par with the difficulty of the content (nothing overly taxing, except perhaps running around Port Scion trying to find the Detect-thingies, surrounded by undead).
I hope you enjoyed this bit of whimsy. If you’d like to check out Orphiel in person before buying him or deciding to quest for him, he’s located in Frozen Tower of the Ancients, by Baradara (shameless plug!).
