If you decide that you want to take the plunge to start using the new version of Dimension Tools, what I will call DT 2.0 from here on out, there are a couple of ways to do so.
The link above will download the master ZIP folder directly to your computer, but if you, like me, like to see what you’re getting, you’ll want to follow the link below:
Once on Github, you’ll see the screen pictured at the top and in the upper right corner, you’ll have the option to Download ZIP and that will download the ZIP file to your PC. The current version as of this writing is 1.9.10, and as you can see, the addon is still being updated.
Once the ZIP file has been installed, you should be able to locate it in the Downloads folder (for users of Windows 7), and from here, it installs just like any other addon. You’ll want to extract all files, then select the correct folder:
As you can see, I’ve already got it installed. Before installing, you’ll want to remove any old versions of Dimension Tools that you may have.
NOTE: To avoid losing saved sets, I highly recommend creating backup sets using Toolbox, then copying those to a Notepad or Word file.
Once the addon is installed, open up the Rift client, click the Addons button at the very bottom, and you should see a screen similar to this:
The green arrow means it’s enabled–if there’s no arrow, simply click the box and one should appear. Log in as normal.
DT 2.0 will ONLY work in your dimension. If you’re standing around in Tempest Bay or Draumheim and want to review a set’s item list or something like that, it won’t open. To get it to open, zone into any dimension and you’ll see this:
That little wrench in the lower left of my portrait is the UI link to the addon, all I have to do is click it, without typing in anything.
Let’s get started!
